There are always a lot of tips out there about how to detail the exterior of your Dodge. Between all the polish, wax, clay bars and other professional detailing equipment, we can all too easily overlook the car’s interior. The inside of your Dodge is getting its fair share of punishment --- garbage left by you and your passengers, dust and dirt from your shoes and outdoor gear on the carpet and upholstery, smudge marks on the windows…the list goes on.
What are the best ways to deal with these problems? Let’s take a closer look below:
First, you should invest in high-quality, durable cleaning products
Its undoubtable that you carefully selected your exterior detailing products to make sure they were safe on your Dodges paintwork, and had the most effective formula etc. You should apply that same attitude to buying interior detailing products. For the inside, you’ll need a powerful vacuum cleaner with its various attachments, a stiff nylon brush, extra microfiber cloths, an upholstery cleaner or leather conditioning product and a can of compressed air for the vents
Second, prepare the carpet for vacuuming using static electricity and a nylon brush
Sometimes dirt gets so ingrained in the carpets that you feel like it’s clinging on for dear life. If you take your vacuum and run it over the dirt 10 times, it still might not come out. So what should you do? There are two simple tricks you can try. First, put on a latex glove and then rub the carpet with your hand to create static electricity. The static will bring the dirt higher up, closer to the surface. The second is agitating the carpet fibers with a stiff nylon brush, which also works to loosen whatever’s stuck to the fibers. Once this groundwork is laid down, you can go ahead and vacuum. You’ll see a big difference.
Third, have you ever blasted your vents?
Don’t you just love that new car smell? It’s even greater when it’s in a Dodge. That novelty wears off, however, as dust and moisture get built up in your car’s intake vents. Fear not, though, because a can of compressed air should do the trick. Blast it through your vents to remove the grime that builds up and a nicer smell should steadily return.
Fourth, only use upholstery/leather cleaning products as instructed
Another tip is not to get too cavalier with the upholstery cleaning products. If you use more than recommended or leave it on too long, or think you know better than the bottle, you might be left with regret, instead of lovely clean seats and upholstery.
Finally, don’t forget the cupholders
Your car’s cupholders are an often-forgotten corner in the vehicle. They collect a lot of dirt and dust, but are awkward to clean because of their shape. We recommend using an old sock to clean them. Put the sock over your hand and use that to get into the corners and clean out the holder properly.
The inside of your beloved Dodge should shine just as much as the exterior. Don’t let detailing stop at the paintwork. Invest an equal amount of time and energy to keep the inside of your car clean, too, and you’ll quickly feel the difference in your driving experience. Check your detailing kit now and quickly replace any items you are missing.
